The Artefact A Moment in Wine 2021 label depicts the year’s defining moments in a design inspired by Japanese Kintsugi, the art of fixing shattered ceramics with gold lacquer to find beauty in the brokenness.
Made from the GF1 Bacchus clone, we hand-harvested the grapes in October 2021 in East Devon. Then we crushed and destemmed them into four 300-litre Tuscan amphorae, spending 5 days on skins and fermenting with Delta and X16 yeasts before ageing for six months on lees. There was no fining or filtration.
Tasting wine is an individual experience; no two notes could ever truly align. At our first tasting of the Artefact A Moment in Wine 2021, we captured the following notes:
Guava, grapefruit zest and mandarin peel.
We love it with pork loin and colcannon mash.
There were just under 900 bottles of Artefact A Moment in Wine 2021 made.
ABV 10.18%
